Statement charges

Probiller, CCBill, Epoch or Segpay on your statement? What the charge is

By GayCompare Editors Published 13 sources

Short answer

Adult memberships are usually charged by a billing company, so your statement shows its name instead of the site's. Probiller bills Men.com, Sean Cody and their sister sites; Epoch, CCBill, Segpay, Vendo and Verotel bill many others. Most of these companies have a lookup page that finds the purchase from two details, such as your email and card number, and lets you cancel it there.

  • Probiller says a charge with Probiller.com in the description is from an online purchase, usually a subscription to an entertainment website.
  • Epoch says your statement will not show the website's name. Segpay's US charges read SEGPAY.COM* plus a short merchant tag.
  • PeterFever, GayAsianNetwork, Japanboyz, HiroyaXXX and Yoshi Kawasaki XXX say their charge shows as Modburst Ltd, Webmediaproz LLC or EPOCH.COM *webmediapr.
  • Before you treat it as fraud, ask anyone who shares the card. Probiller suggests the same.
  • A small extra charge at sign-up can be a card check that is reversed, not a second purchase.

Why the site’s name isn’t on your statement

Many adult membership sites hand card payments to a billing company, and your bank prints that company’s name. Epoch says it plainly: your statement will not show the name of the website. Probiller says a charge with “Probiller.com” in the description is from an online purchase, “usually a subscription to an entertainment website.”

So a strange name on a statement is not proof of fraud. It is often a membership someone on the card bought, or one you forgot renews.

Match the name to the company

  • Probiller or AyloBill. The billing service behind Men.com, Sean Cody, TwinkPop, Icon Male and Gay Wire, each of which says “We use Probiller as our trusted biller.” Probiller’s site names Aylo Billing US Corp. and Aylo Billing Limited. The sites’ terms add that Probiller, AyloBill, Vendo, Segpay, WTS or others may appear, depending on where you live.
  • Epoch (EPOCH.COM). Find My Purchase looks up a purchase from any two of four details and lets you cancel it.
  • CCBill (CCBill.com or CCBillEU, with a toll-free number). CCBill says the exact descriptor is shown on each site’s sign-up page. Search/Cancel a Subscription finds it from two details.
  • Segpay (SEGPAY.COM* plus a tag of up to nine characters). Segpay tells US merchants to disclose that format, and its consumer portal finds purchases from two of three details.
  • Vendo (VendoStore plus a brand name). The Vendo Customer Portal shows billing history and lets you cancel.
  • Verotel (vtsup.com). Verotel’s support site has a lookup for unexpected charges.
  • Modburst Ltd or Webmediaproz LLC. The companies named on the join pages of PeterFever, GayAsianNetwork, Japanboyz, HiroyaXXX and Yoshi Kawasaki XXX. PeterFever’s join page says the charge will show as “Modburst Ltd” or “Webmediaproz LLC 7028295038” or “EPOCH.COM *webmediapr”.

Read from each join page footer and, for the Aylo sites, their customer terms. "Not named" means the page we read did not name it; your receipt or welcome email will.

Where a page names no biller, the receipt or welcome email will. Search your inbox for the amount or the date of the charge.

Look it up before you dispute it

  1. Search your email for a receipt or welcome message from the site or the biller.
  2. Use the biller’s lookup with two details, such as your email and card number.
  3. Ask anyone who shares the card. Probiller suggests checking with family or friends before assuming fraud.
  4. If it’s yours, cancel it on the biller’s page and keep the confirmation. Our cancellation guide has every lookup page in one place, and the Men.com guide covers Probiller sites.
  5. If it isn’t yours, ask the biller to cancel and refund it, then contact your card issuer.

Two charges at sign-up

A small extra charge is not always a second purchase. BoyFun’s support center says its bank runs a pre-authorization on your card before the charge goes through. Aylo’s terms say a nominal fee may be charged when you sign up for a free trial or membership to verify the payment method, and that it “will be automatically reversed or refunded.”

When to go to your bank

Give the biller a chance first. If it won’t fix a charge, the FTC says a credit card billing-error letter should reach your issuer within 60 days after the first bill with the error was sent. Our refund guide explains the trade-offs of a chargeback.
